Panda Keeper Program
Panda Keeper Program can be the best way to work with giant pandas and learn more about them, and meanwhile to contribute to protection and conservation of this endangered animal as the money goes to the Panda Bases for help research, breeding as well as training to reintroduce pandas to get back to the wild.
The Panda Keeper Program offers people who show great love to the adorable pandas and would like to get up close contact as well as more interaction with the cuddly star mammals. During the program, visitor get the chance to learn about taking care of giant pandas with the help of professional Chinese panda keepers.
Currently there are two Panda Bases where travelers can apply for the program, Dujiangyan Panda Base and Wolong Panda Base.
Bifengxia Panda Base also offers visitors the program but it is less popular than the first two because of the cost of transportation due to its farther location from Chengdu.
Visitors willing to work with giant pandas for more interactions and to contribute to preserve this rare species animal can apply for the program. A health record needs to be provided as required by the Panda Base to ensure a clear and healthy environment for giant pandas. The age limit for applicants is between 12 to 65. You could bring your kids between 2 to 11 years old during the program and your guide will help take care of them.
The main activities are to learn about the preservation of this endangered animal, clean their enclosures, making them food, hand feed them as well as touring the Panda Base. Here below in the chart are the details of the program.
As close as next to the panda when hand-feeding it. During the Panda Keeper Program, travelers will have a chance to hand-feed a giant panda. Though the panda is kept in its cage for safety reasons, travelers are just next to it.
Holding a panda for photos has been suspended. It is no longer available at any Panda Base in China. Now the best interaction with the adorable giant pandas is to be a Panda Keeper.

Wolong Panda Base also provides tourists a chance to work as a Panda Keeper with similar activities arranged but slightly different in the time schedule.
