After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel lobby in Chengdu and be transferred to Dujiangyan Panda Base by your private car for about 90-minute driving.

8:30am    

Upon arrival, get registered under the assistance of your tour guide and wear uniform, gloves and your volunteer's card. You will be introduced to the professional panda keepers who will help with your work and accompanied by your friendly guide who is responsible for translation during the whole process.

9:00am-10:00am  

Your keeper tour starts from cleaning panda enclosures. You are responsible for cleaning out the leftovers and feces inside and carrying in the fresh bamboos as well as washing the floor with water to provide panda with the clean and comfortable living environments. Then follow your panda keepers to prepare and cut fresh bamboo for pandas as their breakfast.

10:00am-11:00am

Afterwards, relax yourself and tour around Dujiangyan Panda Base. Good chance for you to catch a clear sight of cuddly black and white pandas who nibble bamboos, climb trees or sleep on the grass. Seize the precious opportunity to capture every interesting moment of those chubby buddy.

11:00am-11:30am

There comes the essence of the tour- Panda feeding! You are given the precious opportunity to hand feed this Chinese national treasure by feeding panda cakes, apples or carrots to them with your own hands. Enjoy this fun and exciting experience and record this unforgettable moment with your camera.

11:30am-1:00pm

Enjoy a simple Chinese lunch at the panda keeper's canteen where several traditional dishes are provided. Then take a rest and save your energy for your following task in the afternoon. 

1:00pm-2:00pm

In the afternoon, watch a panda movie to focus on this endangered species. Good chance for you to know how the shy pandas mate, give birth, grow up, and are returned to the wild during one-hour watching. 

2:00pm-3:00pm

Continue your afternoon enclosure cleaning and pandas feeding. Sweep out the dried bamboos and feces and put some fresh bamboos inside. Afterwards, satisfy them with prepared panda cakes, apples or carrots with your own hands and meanwhile cherish the short time together with adorable giant pandas.

3:00pm-3:30pm

Make panda cakes with care and imagination under the assistance of your professional panda keeper. Mix ingredients such as bamboo flour, soybean as well as sugar and squeeze them into different shapes and bake them in the oven. Then the desert for pandas is done. You can take pictures with the panda cakes endowed with your love. 

3:30pm- 4:00pm

Get Volunteer Certificate. Before saying good bye to lovely pandas, you will be rewarded with a Volunteer Certificate to memorize this special day with them at the end of the tour. Then sit back and be transferred back to your hotel in Chengdu.

Tips:

1. Volunteers from 12 to 65 years can apply for the Panda Keeper Program.

2. Physical Examination Record of each volunteer is required.

3. If you want to take a photo with pandas, please contact our travel consultants in advance.  

4. Volunteers are not permitted to get too close to pandas without the direction of the professional panda keepers.

5. Dress codes: Short pants or slippers are not suggested to protect yourself from bamboos. Please do not wear perfume or nail polish as you will be close to pandas.
