
Discover an adventurous and cultural Lijiang in five days by exploring the must-visit attractions including the majestic Jade Dragon Mountain, archaic Lijiang Old Town, mural relics of Baisha Village, time-weathered Shuhe Old Town and breathtaking Black Dragon Pool. Besides, you are also given a chance to embark on a 2 days in-depth hiking in Tiger Leaping Gorge to capture the spirit of Yangtze.
When you arrive at the airport, our guide will pick you up, and then escort you to Lijiang Old Town.
En route you will have a stopover to visit the Black Dragon Pool Park, which is famous for the gurgling spring brooks dotted in the lush bamboo groves, towering old trees and beautiful view of Dragon Snow Mountain. Ramble along the winding path inside to delight yourself with the pleasant scenery.
Then continue your sightseeing to the Dongba Culture Museum that features on the architectural style of ancient Naxi folk residence. You could delve into the museum to learn more about the origin of the Naxi culture by a glimpse of the relics including sacrificial vessels, pictograph characters, traditional costumes and farming tools.
Finally, check into your hotel in Lijiang Old Town, and explore the town freely on your own the rest of the day. Roam around the time-weathered town to discover the residential dwellings of Naxi People and indulge in the laid-back and romantic atmosphere at the bar street.
In the morning, you will be chauffeured to marvel at the magnificent Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the holy mountain among Naxi ethnic minority. Your adventure starts from a thrilling cableway ride to the Spruce Meadow with an elevation of 3,240 meters that is free of altitude sickness for hiking lovers. Spruce Meadow is blessed with verdant alpine steppe surrounded by primeval spruce forests. The grassland is dotted with wildflowers clusters, with flocks and herds roaming leisurely. From the meadow, you could capture unblocked view of the snow-capped peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and surely there you could also shoot some amazing photos. At the Blue Moon Valley, a magnificent outdoor stage show Impression of Lijiang is awaited to depict the lifestyle and culture of local minority groups including Naxi, Yi and Bai.
Then you will be driven to the off-the-beaten-track Shuhe Old Town in the northwest of Lijiang. As the earliest dwelling place of Naxi people, Shuhe boasts well-preserved Naxi residential houses and brilliant folk customs. Quaint and tranquil, Shuhe Old Town could be a perfect getaway to refresh yourself with the bluestone-paved footpath, graceful arched bridges and old dyeing cloth workshops.
Next, head for Baisha Village, the home to the exquisite murals of Lijiang. A great number of mural paintings from Ming and Qing Dynasty could be found on the screen walls, doorways and roof eaves, most of which depict the Buddha images and nature views in fine workmanship and bright colors.
Enjoy a big breakfast in the morning, and pack some easy-carry food for your lunch, as today you are going to launch an epic two-day Tiger Leaping Gorge hiking tour. Tiger Leaping Gorge, viewed as the deepest gorge with the largest drop of Yangtze, which is a world-level destination for adventure and hiking lovers. With a total length of 20 km (12m miles), Tiger Leaping Gorge could be divided into three sections, namely upper, middle and lower gorge.
A 3-hour morning bus ride will take you to the starting point of the classic hiking route from upper gorge to middle George. Disembark at Qiaotou Village, then start your exploration by trekking along a small footpath for about 1.5 hours, during which you may see some rural villages nestled by the bank of Jinsha River.
Then you will reach the Naxi Family Hostel for a short break to enjoy your lunch.
Later, you would travel through a narrow bumpy trail along an upward slope, which is called 28 Bends by hiking addicts. The road condition is really dangerous clinging to bottomless cliffs, rugged with rocks and jungles. However, the scenery is also unbeatably spectacular, where you could not only overlook the Tiger Leaping Gorge, but also capture great views of the 13 peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain on both sides.
About three hours later, you will get to the Tea Horse Hostel, and continue the hiking for another two hours to reach the Halfway Hostel for tonight's accommodation.
After breakfast, do not rush to hit the road. The Halfway Hostel itself is also a spot as it offers fabulous viewing deck for you to gaze into the dark chasm of the gorge. The trekking is approaching near to the middle part of Tiger Leaping Gorge by two hours walking to Tina's Hostel. This part of hiking is adventurous and full of fun, where you would trek across two waterfalls, Dragon Cave Waterfall and Guanyin Waterfall. Then keep hiking down to the middle and the essence part of the Tiger Leaping Gorge (aka Mantianxing), where you would be overwhelmed by the roaring rapids with thundering surges caused by the densely scattered reefs in the riverbed.
Your lifetime Tiger Leaping Gorge draws to a close here, and you will be transferred back to Lijiang for a good rest.
After breakfast, you will be escorted to the airport to catch your departure flight, and out guide will say goodbye to you there. Wish you a nice journey home.
