Expand All
Day 1
Xi'an Arrival
Airport – hotel transfer. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Luxury: Wyndham Grand Xi'an South Hotel Superior: Ramada Xi'an Bell Tower

You will be met at the arrival hall of the airport by your English-speaking guide and transferred to the hotel by your air-conditioned private vehicle. Then the rest of day will be left on your own to relax and you may walk around to feel the local people's life.

Day 2
Essences of Xi'an
Stand in awe of the Terracotta Army. Cycling ride on the ancient City Wall, and a hearty food adventure at the Muslim Quarter plus a visit to the Great Mosque.
Breakfast

After breakfast, begin your exploration by visiting the 2,000-year-old Terracotta Army that enjoys the fame as the "Eighth Wonder of the World". The discovery of the largest underground military formation really stunned the whole world in 1974. It is believed that over 8,000 terracotta soldiers, horses and chariots were buried (only 2,000 are unearthed) with China's First Emperor of Qin (Emperor Qin Shihuang). Start with a visit to the largest pit, Pit1, containing nearly two thousand soldiers standing neatly in rows while over 4,000 more still buried underground for better preservation. Then move to Pit 2 and uncover the complex of military formation. Finally come to the smallest pit, Pit 3, symbolizing the command post of Qin dynasty. Standing in front of the wonders, you will be astonished by the large-scale battle formation and life-sized terracotta warriors who are vivid in expressions and different in postures. Listen to your guide telling the stories lying behind the treasures carefully and marvel at its superb crafting techniques in ancient times.

Notes: Flashes are not allowed while taking photos in the pits.

Lunch will be left on your own for more flexibility and your guide will offer nice recommendations based on your tastes and preferences.

Then drive back to Xi'an City Wall, the largest and the most complete ancient city wall extant in China that has guarded ancient capital for over 600 years. It fitly encloses downtown Xi'an with a length of about 14 km (about 8.75 miles) in the shape of rectangle. Set foot on the ancient wall, touch the aged brick and stone and explore the real sense of historical civilizations. Or if you want, you may ride a bike (optional) along the City Wall to appreciate the mix of old and new scenery of Xi'an.

Afterwards, pay a visit to Great Mosque, the well-preserved Islamic mosque complexes characterized by its Chinese design and artistic style of Ming (1368AD-1644AD) and Qing dynasty (1644AD-1912AD). Pavilions with cornice, exquisite layout of courtyards and devout worshippers will leave you a deep impression of the beauty of sanctity. Exit Great Mosque to the bustling Muslim Quarter, the hub of authentic Muslim food where all vendors hawking for their local tasty snacks or exquisite souvenirs line the narrow and intricate street on both sides. Take a leisure walk along the tree-lined bluestone path, you may try some local food as your dinner and enjoy a sense of Xian's local life.

Then begin your exciting exploration by taking the cable car to the West Peak. Then seize iron chains on both sides tightly, set foot on the narrow wooden or stone stairs, cross the sheer paths along the steep cliff. You may encounter the scattering ancient Taoist temples, take adventures in other precipitous highlights, or pass through the most famous Plank Walk tremblingly into the highest South peak, with an altitude of 2154.9 meters, where you can enjoy the most stunning panoramic views of Mount Hua. Finally, descend by the cable car at North Peak and your guide will wait for you at the exit. Your exciting tour in Mount Hua ends and you may take a nap on the way back to your hotel.

Listen to your guide telling about the prosperity of those bygone days while appreciating this historic site.
