
Enjoy a full day escape from Beijing to explore the old capital Xi'an that enchants you with a wealth of historic and cultural splendors including the incredibly large-scale Terracotta Army, the best-preserved City Wall, Great Mosque and the bustling Muslim Quarter where you could try some best street food and local snacks.
You will catch a morning flight to Xi'an which will take around 2 hours. Upon arrival, your friendly English-speaking tour guide holding a welcome sign with your name will pick you up at airport hall.
Then, drive about 1 hour to sight-see the Eighth Wonder of the World – Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. With over 2,000 years' history, more than 8,000 life-sized clay soldiers were buried with First Emperor Qin (259-210BC) to protect his afterlife, who unified China and established the first centralized feudal country. Feel awe for the imperial power and superb craftsmanship of Qin dynasty since every warrior stands erect in the battle formation, each owning distinctive facial expressions, hairstyles, figures and uniforms.
Lunch will be left on your own for more flexibility and your insider guide will offer nice recommendations based on your tastes and preferences.
Then drive back to the city to step on the ancient Xi'an City Wall to explore the historical traces dating back to 600 years ago. With a total length of 14km (8.75 mi), the best-preserved military defensive wonder fitly encloses the old capital, with a running moat surrounded by till now. Follow your guide to discover how the great wonder had successfully protected the old city since it was built.
Next, stroll along the bustling Muslim Quarter and savor the profound Muslim culture. Step into the Great Mosque, one of the largest Islamic mosque that blends so well with traditional Chinese style, like cornice roofs, exquisite carvings, decorations, beautiful courtyards, etc. You might be able to encounter the local Muslim men who come to pray as they still practice here five times a day. Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely promenade along the most visited bazaar clustered with local delicacies, time-honored restaurants and exquisite handcrafts and you may taste some of the local snacks.
Afterwards, your memorable Xi'an discovery concludes, and you will be transferred to fly back to Beijing.
