This three-day Xian to Jingbain Wave Valley tour will enable you to become the first batch of explorers to the virgin land, where you would be amazed at the Danxia landscape by craftsmanship of Mother Nature. You can also seize the chance to check out two historical gems near Jingbian, including the 1,500-year-old Tongwan City and the Zhenbeitai Tower of the Ming Great Wall. Your adventures would finally be enriched by a lovely hiking through the spectacular Red Sandstone Gorge.
After breakfast, your guide and driver will help you board a high-speed train to Yanan, where you can connect a private escort service to Jingbian, the home of the awe-inspiring Wave Valley.
Characterized by red sandstone landform with wave-like ridges, Jingbian Wave Valley is like a giant natural art on sandstone canvas formed gradually over time from water and wind erosion of millions of years. You can not only squeeze yourself into the narrow cracks of the valley, but also have a dreamy trekking on the layers of the rock formations with no buzzy crowds of tourists. You will appreciate the stunning landscape from its Platform A, B and C together with Wave Valley scenery nestled by a lake. An optional boat ride allows you to go deeper for a full view of those otherworldly textures.
At the end of the adventure, you will be assisted to check into a local hotel in Jingbian for today’s accommodation.
In the morning, you will take a one-hour land transfer to Tongwan City. It is a ruin site of the only existing capital of Huns nationality that could date back to 407 AD. Though the city are now dilapidated walls and mounds, you could still retrace the considerable scale and size of the ancient capital. Around the inner city, a great number of relics from Han Dynasty to Song Dynasty were unearthed for exhibition, such as bronze seals, Buddha statues, mirrors, coins, stone tablets, porcelain and potteries.
Afterwards, you will be driven to the Red Sandstone Gorge in about 1.5 hours. With a local guide, you will enjoy a delightful excursion through the gorge and admire the time-weathered caves, carvings, images and scripts hewn into the rock face on both sides of the sandstone canyon.
Then you will be led to the adjacent Zhenbeitai, a shiny UNESCO spot. It is the largest watchtower existing in the entire Great Wall. Originally constructed in 1607 during the Ming Dynasty, Zhenbeitai uwas served as a strategic post for Mongolians and Han ethnic groups to negotiate and trade with each other. Ascending the four-level beacon tower, you would embrace the bleak deserts in the north and greenery oasis in the south.
After breakfast, you will get packed and check out of the hotel for a land transfer to Yanan, and an onward high-speed train to Xian would be awaited. Upon arrival, your Xian guide and driver will pick you up and escort you to your hotel.
