Itinerary
Spend your leisure time discovering quaint Zhouzhuang Water Town. You will be picked up at your hotel lobby. About 1.5-hour's drive, you will arrive at the ancient water town.
Built by the riverbanks, hundreds of antique houses with black tiled roofs and white walls will take you into a Chinese painting. Roam over the old town, scattered with stone bridges, time-honored stores and the most elegant waterways, to soak up the laidback vibe exclusive for Jiangnan (South of Yangtze River). Then step into the grand Shen House and Zhang House, well preserved with large scale, elaborate style and exquisite decorations, to trace the luxurious life of the old merchants' family. You will also have a chance to visit the former residence of Shen Wansan, the super-rich tycoon in the early Ming dynasty (1368-1644AD). Continue your trip to the iconic Twin Bridges, crisscrossed with rivers and houses, for the superb views over the picturesque water town followed by the chance to pray for blessing on the oldest Fu'an Bridge built as early as in 1355AD. Along the way, you will be able to see various local delicacies and traditional featured Chinese handicraft. You could enjoy an optional wooden canopy boat ride to savor the unsophisticated water town scenery along the gentle stream. Then, your wonderful water town trip comes to an end and you will be transferred back to your hotel in Shanghai.
