On arrival at Hohhot Airport, you will be greeted by your local guide and driver, and then escorted to your downtown hotel by a comfortable private vehicle. The rest of the day is your free time to relax and explore the city a bit on your own.

Have a big breakfast and get ready for a 1.5-2 hours’ drive to the Xilamuren, one of the closest and most captivating grasslands around Hohhot. Upon arrival, you can first visit a local herdsman’s house and have a taste of their homemade yogurt. You could also climb up to their stone heap hill to learn more about their spiritual belief.

Next, join the Monan Legend Show, a small Nadam fair showing you their skillful horsemanship, wrestling and archery. Sitting back, you would be entertained by lively folk performances of singing and dancing, while the hospitable nomads will offer you a hada (a long pieces of white or yellow silk) to welcome your visit.

For a better discovery of the prairie, you can also have an optional horse ride going deep into the grassland while no one lingers around you. After dinner, there will be a brisk bonfire party, while you can get dressed in Mongolian costumes and join in their dance. The night stay would be spent in a traditional Mongolian yurt with bathroom and air-conditioner.

If the weather is fine, you are suggested to get up early since the sunrise is especially spectacular on the steppe. After breakfast, a private vehicle land transfer to Baotou is awaited. The van will firstly lead you to the renowned Wudangzhao Lamasery, a Tibetan Buddhist temple dating back to Kangxi Reign (1662 - 1722).

Reputed as the Potala on Grassland, it is the largest and best-preserved Tibetan monastery in Inner Mongolia, occupying over 20 hectares and housing more than 2,500 halls and rooms. The whole palace complex is mostly in white and arrayed neatly along the hill slope, which is particularly elegant and splendid seen from afar. Wandering through the monastery, you may also encounter a lot of residential monks dressed in long red robes. However, taking pictures of them are not advised. After that, you will be escorted to the hotel in downtown Baotou city for tonight’s stay.

In the morning, board your van for a ride to China’s most amusing desert resort, Yinken Resonant Sand Bay. Since the sand here is able to make whispering sound when hit or stepped, people fame it Singing Sand. A cable car ride will get you to the central region of the desert to admire its serene beauty.

There are also many optional exciting activities for you to experience, such as sand skating, riding the camel, desert paraglide and desert surfing. At the end of the tour, you will be chauffeured to your hotel in Erdos for a good rest.

After breakfast, your guide and driver will chauffer you to the Tomb of Genghis Khan via a 36-mile drive from Erdos downtown. Genghis Khan had created the largest contiguous land empire in the world for a time by his conquest in west China, India and Russia. However, the lost treasure and real tomb of Genghis Khan are still shrouded in secrecy.

The mausoleum you are visiting today is a symbolic one, where you would be amazed at the princely tomb gate that seems to be split by a huge axe. The august sculptures of cavalry and the military camp will reshow you how Genghis Khan conquered the world on horseback. After lunch, you will be transferred to Togtoh for further exploration in the next day.

After breakfast, your guide and driver will take you to marvel at the most stunning turn of the Yellow River, Laoniuwan Gorge. Perched on the border of Inner Mongolia and Shanxi Province, Laoniuwan boasts jaw-dropping landscape where the old Great Wall meets the Yellow River.

You will enjoy a cruise journey to tour the gorge. During the drifting, you will see a lot of historical sites along the Yellow River, such as the ruins of the Great Wall, old battery fort and a lot of folk settlements. There are also onshore excursions for you to dig deeper into the far-reaching history of the Yellow River. Lastly, you will be escorted to Hohhot downtown and helped to check into your hotel.
