Beijing Launches a New Tourist Train S5 to Northeastern Suburbs

At 06:50 am of April 30, 2019, the new tourist train S5 first runs from Huangtudian Station to Gubeikou, which marks the official run-through operation of Beijing's another urban railway.
With a total length of 135.6 km, the tourist train links Huairou and Miyun districts in Beijing, and travels through 6 major stops including Huangtudian, Changping North, Fangezhuang, Huairou North, Heishansi and Gubeikou.
The train route strings up an array of spectacular attractions for escape from the city bustle, such as Gubei Water Town, Yanxi Lake, Mutianyu Great Wall, Simatai Great Wall, Hongluo Temple, Jinshanling Great Wall, Black Dragon Pool, Mangshan National Forest Park and Qinglong Gorge.
Particularly, sights like Gubei Water Town become more popular in recent years, while the newly opened tourist train will greatly ease the traffic burden and fulfill the needs of a growing number of tourists. Just like the S2 train, S5 would be a faster and easier way for visitors to explore the northeastern outskirts of Beijing.
The whole journey of the tourist train takes about 2 hours, while the ride from Huangtudian to Huairou North may take 1 hour or so. The ticket of full-line ride cost RMB12 at most.
Travel Tips:
1. You can reach Huangtudian Train Station by taking the subway line 8 or 13 to Huoying Station, which are a few minutes' walk from the train station.
2. For easier transfer, there are special shuttle buses connecting the S5 train stops and popular attractions like Gubei Water Town, Mutianyu Great Wall, Yanxi Lake and Hongluo Temple.
