1. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and learnt so much about China, the culture and the country. We were pleased we chose to have a private tour as this enabled us to communicate with the guide at a personal level, ask many questions and be given lots of details about the places we visited, to an extent that we feel would not be available in group tours.

2. GUIDES - All our guides were very good. We always felt they were very attentive to our needs, considerate and helpful. They were willing to go out of their way to accommodate us. They spoke good English and were able to either answer our constant questions or find out the answer. They certainly played a very important role in the success of our trip and we are very grateful for the high standard of the guides we had. Thank you!

3. ACCOMMODATION - All our accommodation was of a high standard. The location of our accommodation was always very convenient to recommended sights and restaurants. We were especially pleased we changed our accommodation prior to departure in both Shangri-La and Lijiang and suggest these would be very suitable for your future clients, both were clean, had good service and rooms with good facilities.

Ivy Garden Hotel - Lijiang We can definitely recommend this hotel. The room had a separate bedroom, separate sitting area and its own private outdoor area. Located in the old town via a 5 minute walk from the transport, hotel porter will meet you at the transport and take your luggage for you in his cart.

Bodhi Boutique Inn - Shangri-la Definitely recommend to future clients. A small, family run, Tibetan style hotel. Very relaxing, comfortable place. Loved the ginger tea which is complimentary in the lobby lounge area, available for guests to help themselves at any time. Breakfast was limited, but adequate. Location excellent. Décor very Tibetan and ideal to set the scene for Shangri-la.

4. DAILY TOURS - The places we visited on our tour gave us a good insight into each area. Being on a private tour was advantageous in that the guide was able to avoid crowds and suit our individual interests.

5. BULLET TRAINS - We enjoyed using the bullet trains, especially good to be able to see the country-side as we travelled between places, rather than travel at night on sleeper trains. It was good to have guides to explain the train stations and to assist us in finding our way, as some stations have limited English signs.

6. ELYSIAN TOUR - the service and assistance we received was wonderful. We are so pleased we chose Elysian Tour over many other travel agents. The attention we were given from Candy was always helpful and friendly, and quick, which was much appreciated by us. We felt we were always treated as important customers and nothing was too much trouble. The suggestions made by Candy were very helpful which enabled us to choose a trip that suited our needs and expectations.

The extra cost for us to have a private tour was definitely worth it. We felt we got to see and understand the ‘real’ China, especially travelling in the Yunnan Province.

7. OVERALL - Our trip has left us with a much better understanding of China, the history, the people, the diversity of the ethnic groups, the landscape. We feel China as a country has made huge progress in the last 20 years and understand why Chinese people are proud of their country. This is one of the best overseas holidays we have had and we are so pleased we decided to travel to China. We also realise that the tour organiser and method of travel are very important to the success of the trip.
