China Weather in June and Places to Go
June is the transitional month between spring and summer. Most of the places in China are warmed up with flowers in full bloom and much greenery. As a vast country, the temperatures vary in different regions.
North China: Beijing, Xi'an, Inner Mongolia, Pingyao, Luoyang
The weather in Northern China is comparatively dry and cooler, usually with a big temperature difference between days and nights. The average temperature is around 14℃ (57.2℉) to 26℃ (78.8℉). Thus June is a wonderful time to visit when summer is arriving with warmer and more comfortable weather. Destinations like Beijing and Xi’an, highest temperature during the day could go up to 30℃ (86℉).

Central China: Chengdu, Chongqing, Yangtze River Region, Zhangjiajie
June in central China is warm and a bit damp. Warmer than the north and cooler than the south, cities in the middle part enjoy very pleasant temperatures and beautiful sceneries. The average temperature stays around 23℃ (73.4℉) to 28℃ (82.4℉).

South China: Guilin, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Xiamen
South China is much warmer and more humid with an average temperature of 25℃-29℃ (77℉-84.2℉). Before the monsoon season kicks in, it is nice to travel to South China with occasional rainfalls. As it is more humid with more rains, the natural scenery in south China is stunning with lush green mountains and abundant rivers. Outdoor trekking to the mountains is a great choice.

East China: Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing
East China enjoys mild weather in June. It is getting warmer yet close to the ocean, it is not too hot yet. The average temperature stays around 22 ℃ (71.6℉) to 28 ℃ (82.4℉). More humid with more rains, the landscapes in east China are amazingly stunning.

West China: Tibet, Qinghai, Dunhuang, Zhangye, Yunnan, Guizhou
Inland cities in West China enjoy dry and warm weather in June, but not too hot. The mornings and nights are still cool but the vast grassland in Gansu and Qinghai is reviving, which holds great appeal to travelers to either hike or enjoy a horse riding. The average temperature is around 20 ℃ (68℉) to 25℃ (77℉).

- Guilin: Lush green mountains with beautiful rivers and karst pinnacles form an incredibly enchanting scene like a long scroll painting. Plus the nearby Longsheng Terraced Fields that has been irrigated. You will enjoy a wonderful hiking along the paddy fields. Shutter bugs find it a great time to shoot some wonderful shots.
- Suzhou: Another Heavenly City in China presents world travelers the magnificent China landscapes. The manmade rockeries, elegantly designed houses, peaceful lakes, pavilions and corridors showcase the unique beauty of traditional Chinese architecture.
- Hangzhou: The dreamy West Lake in Heavenly City Hangzhou is decorated by the pink lotus flowers in beautiful blossom and the verdant Dragon Well tea plantation offers a lovely chance to walk in to the fields and pick up tea leaves together with local farmers.
- Huangshan: Yellow Mountain with its sea clouds, weirdly-looking pines and unique rocks awaits your discovery when June is warm and pleasant. Please keep in mind that weather in mountainous area changes fast. A raincoat and umbrella is suggested in case it rains on the mountain top.
- Yunnan: Yunnan is actually a great choice for all seasons with varied sceneries. In June, Yunnan offers colorful flowers, especially its famous Azaleas. The gorgeous Jade Snow Mountains will amaze travelers with stunning snow-capped mountain tops and meadows at the foot of the mountain.
- Xiamen: This beautiful coastal city is the gateway to the very famous Earthen Buildings. The well-kept Tulou Hakka Houses will welcome you with its beautiful surrounding views in June. The Famous Wuyi Mountain also offers wonderful sceneries in the beginning of summer.
- Tibet: Summer time is very comfortable to travel to Tibet and admire the mystic culture as well as its gorgeous scenery. Yet as it is located in the highland, its mornings and nights are still chilly. A light sweater is suggested to be packed with you.



Dragon Boat Festival is an important traditional festival throughout the country. And different places have different ways to celebrate the festival. While you are traveling in China, people in the north eat traditional snack Zongzi for celebration. And in south China, the featured Dragon Boat Race is a quite popular celebration.
1. As the start of summer time, the weather varies quite differently in different areas. General summer clothes are essential to pack, yet a light long-sleeves shirt and light long pants are suggested.
2. Umbrella is a must for either unexpected rain or strong sunshine except if you would like to get tanned.
3. Sunblock should be also considered as most of the places have strong sunshine during the day.
4. Walking sticks are very helpful if you are coming to China for a hiking adventure in the comfortable summer beginning.
