In this specially designed one-day tour, you will ramble around Big Wild Goose Pagoda, visit Shaanxi History Museum, walk on the City Wall and step into the Great Mosque to marvel at the profound history, unparalleled ancient wit, and deep cultural connotation.
In the morning, you will first drive to visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda, located in Ci'en Temple. Tracing back to 648 AD, the temple used to serve as the imperial temple in Tang Dyansty (618AD-907AD). Follow your guide to admire the shrines, Buddhist statues and find out the legend behind the magnificent Big Wild Goose Pagoda, built in 652AD to enshrine the Buddhist relics, statues and Sanskrit classics brought back from ancient India.
Then proceed to the Tang-style Shaanxi History Museum, a treasure house of Chinese civilization. It has a collection of almost 37,000 cultural relics, of which 762 pieces/sets are rated in Class A, 18 are in national treasures class, and 2 cannot be exhibited abroad. Marvel at treasures date from 1.15 million years ago to around 1840AD and learn about the rises and falls of 13 feudal dynasties. Then step up the Xi'an City Wall with 600 years history. The traces of history are close enough for you to touch, and to feel: the unsophisticated and solemn bricks, gate towers, watchtowers, crenels, etc. Look down over the moat which is of great significance for the defensive system still running around the Wall.
Next walk through the bustling Muslim Quarter, where all kinds of snacks, souvenirs, artifacts will dazzle you, and step into Great Mosque. It represents the perfect combination of Chinese classic and Islamic architectures. Admire the peculiar styles, sophisticated patterns, paintings, carved decorations, etc. and learn the special minority culture.
